celebrate God and forgiveness.
The clouds are bleeding orange purity
An eye-watering haze of infinite prisms
Bright orbitals projected by the star
That looms, growing behind the windowframe.
The murky horizon sentinels murmurate
Trees in some distant wind
The disc shimmers through morning green
Remarkably similar to light through water.
Now the thread-like clouds untangle and dissolve
Reshape in darkling pillars
Loom in solemn bands
I look down.
Taste of recent toothpaste
Underlain by coffee aftertaste
Eyes bleary
Square my shoulders and walk on.
If reality is concentric spheres
Like the ancients incessantly droned
Outside to inside, order to chaos
235 over 256
And the light that comes from heaven
Illuminates tilting Earth
One must revel in the sun’s morning glory
Shining through the undersky world.
Earlier this year, I made up my metaverse pseudonym, Laudeus, believing that it was Latin for “praise God”. I recently discovered that a more accurate translation for it would actually be “praise me”. My bad.
Anyway, I am planning to change it to Pallas, which is the name of a great hero in the Aeneid (what I believe to be the best book of all time). Pallas is a name that has stood for justice and courage throughout history.
Do you think I should go through with this, or should I choose a cooler pseudonym? Recommendations very welcome.
