At this point, it’s an insult to humanity.
You’ve heard of the upcoming third lockdown. Of the tightening travel restrictions, “proof of vaccination” card idea, the people in power building field hospitals, all because of the fact that “Omicron is spreading rapidly”.
Last I checked, Omicron is 75% of U.S. COVID cases. Of course, it’s the most contagious variant yet. Everybody’s told you that. But has anybody told you how many people have died of it? Very, very few. Look it up, and you’ll only find it on niche news sources. Nothing mainstream. Nothing we hear about.
I’m not here to write about the physical properties of Omicron, or perhaps the insane bias of mainstream news. I won’t compete with the authorities.
The issue is greater than that. If we have an Omicron lockdown, it will prove that, not only do we not read statistics, but that we are complacent enough to have the authorities decide what is virtuous, and how we can die.
At this point, the lockdown thing isn’t about justice, or about the preservation of life. It’s about what it means to be virtuous. All this rhetoric about “saving one life”. Is it really saving lives to insist on wearing a piece of blue paper over one’s face, while ignoring all the mental, physical, and societal damage that comes from almost two years of lockdown?
If you choose to wear a mask, I’m not criticizing that decision or anything. The thing is that masks have become such a big part of virtue signaling, that it’s hard to know whether they’re really meant to help, or are just political.
Either way, when you see the actual stats for Omicron, I think you’ll start to have the same questions I’m proposing.
Honestly, Omicron is likely the end of COVID we’ve all been waiting for: the original variant is being rapidly replaced by a new variant that, though more contagious, is harmless. Similar to the 1918 Spanish influenza epidemic, and the Black Death. I don’t know, but it sure would be nice.
Why do we continue to wear masks that don’t work, take tests that don’t work, undergo lockdowns that don’t work, and take vaccines that don’t work as well as they could, all while refusing to administer treatments that do work? Why am I saying that the measures don’t work? Because the pandemic’s still going, even after all of humanity has been entirely committed to them for almost two years.
The authorities are also judging how we may die. How we die is just as important as how we live, and free people must be able to choose how they die. If we are willing to risk death, there is no reason to stop us.
The spread has not been slowed, and the curve has not been flattened. All we’ve experienced shows that what we’ve been doing is useless, and there’s no reason to continue the torture. I can’t do this again for Omicron.
We have more rights than life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness: I want a right to determine for myself what is virtuous, and the right to risk death and to die as I see fit. I think I’d fight for that.
